Sewell Woods

Scarborough, Cumberland County

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 35 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 1.1 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Stuart Brook, Frith Farm

This is a 35-acre wooded preserve with two short, gentle loops trails on one side (the southern side). The little loop is about 0.3 miles, and the longer loop is about 0.7 miles. You’ll encounter boardwalks and bog bridges.

Across the street, the 0.4-mile, there-and-back trail brings you through forest and over a few bog bridges to the organic Frith Farm. A friendly sign at the end of this trail farm invites walkers to open the deer gate (and close it again after you!) and visit the fields and farm store.

The land is protected by the Scarborough Land Trust.

Directions: From Route 1, take Broadturn Road for 1 mile. Turn left onto Ash Swamp Road. Continue straight through the intersection at Hearn Road. Look for the Sewell Woods sign and gravel parking lot on the left.
