For not too much effort, you can get enough elevation at this Frenchman Bay Conservancy easement for views of the bay. At about 0.45 miles, you’ll come to an open ledge with the best vista. Follow an on old trail to a nubble for the best views.
If you continue a little ways, you’ll see the cairn marking the actual 397-foot summit (it’s wooded), and a little farther along, you’ll come to a picnic table. The road continues to a camp on private property.
Directions: From the Sullivan side of the Hancock-Sullivan Bridge on Route 1, drive 2.6 miles to the Long Cove rest area on the right. You can park here and walk west along Route 1 to the trailhead. Here the path follows a grown-over former Route 1 for a short distance to the mountain trail on the left.
