Ash Point Preserve, Owls Head

  • Preserve Size: 34 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~1.1 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: islands, Atlantic Ocean

This is another lovely spot to visit in Owls Head, along with Plaisted Preserve. After walking through a coastal spruce forest and a few stands of old apple trees, you’ll reach the dramatic seaside. The Georges River Land Trust says the preserve has 2,140 feet along the granite shoreline.

Directions: From Rockland, drive south on Rte. 73, turn left onto North Shore Drive, turn right onto Ash Point Drive. Go about 2.5 miles and look for the parking lot on the left.
