Harkness Preserve

Rockport, Knox County

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 23 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 1-mile loop
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Rockport Harbor, stone throne

Set amid a little neighborhood, this Coastal Mountains Land Trust trail weaves through forest before coming out to a delightful spot overlooking a little harbor. Someone has created a fantastic stone throne at the view point, so you can watch the comings and goings of Rockport Harbor. (That image reminds me a bit of Adam White’s Maine-based novel, The Midcoast!)

Directions: From Camden, take Route 1 south, turning left onto Pascal Avenue. Turn right onto School Street, then turn right onto Spruce Street. About 100 yards up Spruce Street is the preserve parking, marked by a sign.
