This former farm and current preserve has a wide, easy, looped trail that links up to the spectacular Beech Hill Preserve, approximately two miles away. The path is built to be accessible the whole way. The land is protected by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust.
From the parking lot, the trail crosses a little bridge and circles around the gardens. It then makes a tight turn right, bringing you along a delightful narrow lane before reaching the loop, in about 0.4 miles. The loop, itself, is about 0.6 miles, and takes you through forest and past a little tire swing.
If you continue to Beech Hill, it’s another 0.7 miles.
Directions: Erickson Fields Preserve is located at 124 West St. in Rockport. From the south, take Route 1 north until it intersects with Route 90 outside of Warren, and turn left on Route 90. Follow Route 90 nearly to its end, about 10.5 miles (and about 2.5 miles past the stoplight and intersection with Route 17). Erickson Fields Preserve is on your right across from Cross Street.
