The property was donated by Eleanor Burke, in 2002, after she lived there for fifty years. In her will, she asked that all the buildings be removed from the homesite to allow the land to return to its natural state, with no hunting, trapping, or motor vehicles allowed. But she did request that the fields be maintained as open space, to support nesting birds and small mammals.
