Nooney Farm Trail

Kittery, York County

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 30 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 0.8 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: mature forest, farm, wetland

Part of the pleasure of this Kittery Land Trust walk is making your way down the hill, past the farm’s verdant greenhouses and fields! You might even encounter an exceedingly friendly golden retriever.

From the parking area, peer down the hill to pinpoint the trailhead kiosk and make your way to it. Then enjoy the bright meadow you’ll walk through before stepping onto a short boardwalk with a bench.

The boardwalk brings you to a 0.4-mile loop through an old forest of oaks and pines. While you can hear the highway nearby, it does’t spoil the pleasure of walking through the woods. The land trust has created a little meeting area with three benches.

I like this preserve description from the trust: “Nooney Farm is a beautiful tapestry of open farm fields and wooded uplands, with a large wetland that feeds into nearby Spruce Creek.”

Directions: The farm is located at 22 Stevenson Road. Pull in and park in the large parking area at the top of the hill. To find the trail, walk down the hill, past greenhouses and fields, to the kiosk.
