North Street Recreation Area/Community Trail, Waterville

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: 0.6 one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Messalonskee Stream, playing fields, swimming pool

What a lovely trail along the river! (Although I think it might technically be a stream: Messalonskee Stream). Regardless, my dog and I had a pleasant stroll in the dappled shade provided by the tree cover on this easy and popular trail, which is graded to be wheelchair accessible.

There is a dock you can access via a staircase at the northern end of the trail, where there is also a small parking area.

More information available from Kennebec Messalonskee Trails.

Directions: There are several places to leave a car close to the trail at the recreational area. One is at the far northern end of the path, in a smallish lot across from the intersection of Quarry Road and North Street. You can also park in the bigger lots near the tennis courts and swimming pool (which has the most epic waterslide I’ve seen outside of Aquaboggan Water Park!). Note: There is no parking at the trailhead at the end of Edgemont Ave.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
