The Mountain Trail, Rome

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 207 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 2.6 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy, with gentle climbs
  • Sights: two lookouts, summit is 665 ft.

“The Mountain” offers a nice, woodsy walk with a gentle climb. There are two decent lookouts, the western side being the nicer as it is open ledge. The main artery is relatively wide, a snowmobile track possibly, and looping hiking trails sprout off from it. This track continues beyond the preserve boundaries. On a recent Sunday morning in August, the lot was quite full with cars. The 7 Lakes Alliance protects this spot.

Directions:
Go about one mile north of Belgrade Lakes Village on Route 27. Turn right onto Mountain Drive. A parking area is .3 miles on the left.
