Westbrook River Walk

Westbrook, Cumberland County

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: ~1.2 one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: river, ducks, city sights

My map above shows Westbrook River Walk in purple; Rivermeadow Nature Preserve in orange; Conant trails in yellow; Westbrook High School/Animal League trails in red; and Stroudwater Trails in green. To connect the trails you’ll have to walk along or cross a few streets.

This is a pleasant urban walk along the Presumpscot River, possibly to be taken after a meal at one of the downtown Westbrook restaurants. It is a little over a mile in one direction, staying close to the wide river, with views of the falls at the western end and a neat metal pedestrian bridge at the eastern end that brings you to Brown Street. The river walk is paved for much of the way with packed dirt around Fraser Field and some upscale boardwalk near Bridge Street.

Directions: Parking is available in Riverbank Park off Main Street, as well as numerous other places along the trail.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
