QUICK TRAIL FACTS
- Preserve Size: N/A
- Trail Mileage: 0.6 miles one way
- Pets: yes
- Difficulty: moderate to challenging
- Sights: views
A consistently steep 0.6-mile footpath, marked with faded blue blazes and some trail tape, brings you to a beautiful lookout from open ledge facing south, with almost 180-degree views. The path might be a bit scruffy in places but is easy to follow.
Directions: While the backcountry road South Arm Road is paved (hallelujah), the trailhead might be hard to spot from your car. When I visited in 2025, it was marked with a metal pole wrapped in colored ribbon, on the north side of the South Arm Road. From the Appalachian Trail crossing, it’s about 3 miles west on South Arm Road. If you start at the entrance of South Arm Campground, righ where the driveway meets South Arm Road, the trail is 0.75 miles east, almost on the nose. You can safely park on the side of the road.
