- Sam Ristich and Hayes Forest Trails — More than four miles of pleasant forest trails, including a section along an old railway. Across Route 9, more trails on a Hayes Forest tract would be more suitable for winter exploration.
- Old Town House Park — A beautiful 62-acre park with trails along the Royal River and around meadows.
- Dunn’s Depot Trail — Across the street from Old Town House Park is the ~1.4-mile lollipop loop trail that brings walkers along the edge of the river.
- Chandler Brook Preserve — Another pretty preserve, 65 acres, this time along a tributary to the Royal River.
- Skyline Farm and Water District trails — The nonprofit organization offers a couple miles of beautiful public trails and horse-drawn transportation education and recreation (including sleigh rides and carriage rides!). Across Sweetser Road, you can add on a 1-mile loop on town land that protects the local water supply.
- Mèmak Preserve — 46 acres of protected woods that contain a particularly nice old stonewall.
- Granite Falls — A short, grassy trail, about 0.2 miles, brings you to a small waterfall that flows over ledge.
- Fern Hollow — Å quarter-mile trail runs from the end of Cluff Road to a small brook and stone railroad culvert.
- Dédəbonsagk Preserve — Wander easy, mown trails through a 3.5-acre meadow. You can make small loops into adjacent forest stands or, briefly, along a power line corridor.
