My map above shows Rivermeadow Nature Preserve in orange; Westbrook River Walk in purple; Conant trails in yellow; Westbrook Animal League trails in red; Blue Spruce trails in blue; and Stroudwater Trails in green.
The 44 acres of Rivermeadow Nature Preserve include footage along the Presumpscot River and 30 acres of forested wetlands, over a bit of which the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust has built wide, curving boardwalks that are fun to follow (and photograph!). The remainder of the foot trails are flat and easy; they weave through riparian habitat and a shady forest at the northern tip of the preserve. All together, the walk is about 1.7 miles.
I’ve included other relatively close trails in my Google map in case you feel like going for an extended walk in the urban wilderness! To connect the trails, you’ll have to walk along and cross a few streets.
Directions: Park at the Cornelia Warren Four Seasons rink, at 58 Lincoln Street in Westbrook, and walk toward the boat launch. The trails will be on your right.
