Greenwood

  • Maggie’s Nature Park — There are a few miles of hilly trails here, with nice views of the surrounding hills and ponds from three different viewpoints.
  • Greenwood Ice Caves and Tiger Bill Quarry — This hike takes you mostly along old dirt roads. The final 0.3-mile to the boulders and caves is a footpath.
  • Noyes Mountain — A 1,501-foot mountain with lovely views from atop an old mine carved into the mountainside. The trail can be steep in places.
  • Oversett Mountain and Sanborn River Trail — I highly recommend the mountain-river-pond combination of this amazing 6-mile trail system! But be sure to get here early; the parking is limited.
  • Far Winde-a-Way Nature Preserve — A father and daughter have created a beautiful legacy for their wife/mom, Pamela Nelson, with well-marked trails on conserved land they’ve opened to the public.
  • Patch Mountain — A bit more than a mile’s hike up an ATV route will bring you to glorious views from this small mountain, with an elevation of 1,565 feet.
