- Dorothea Dix Park — Though the trails might not be in the best shape, depending on when you visit, it’s worth visiting the 23-acre park to make it down to the river edge.
- Turtle Head Park — A tiny park, with a 0.2-mile paved trail to a picnic table with a view of the Penobscot River.
- Papermill Recreation Area — Another small park, with access to the Souadabscook Stream, benches and a picnic table. There’s a tiny trail network, with just about a half mile worth of trails.
- Reeds Brook Trails — Wide, easy trails next to the middle school are groomed in the winter for skiing. Visitors can walk here year-round, but might find wet conditions in spring.
