Rockland

Map shows trails in Knox County

  • Rockland Harbor Trail — Rockland seems to have big plans for a 5.5-mile harbor trail. I walked a bit of it — a section of boardwalks and paved walkway close to the downtown that was rather nice. I lost the green-and-white harbor signs after .6 mile, though. I’ll return and try again another day.
  • Marie H. Reed Breakwater Park — A short wheelchair-accessible path along a beach takes you to a dramatic one-mile granite breakwater.  (The breakwater might be hard for wheels b/c of the spaces between boulders.) Walk along the breakwater for views, seals, and a sweet lighthouse at the end.
  • Bog Overlook Trail — As of 2023, you can walk a (sometimes muddy) quarter-mile trail to a view of a vast peat bog. In time, the town would like to extend the trail to the waterfront.
