Falmouth Nature Preserve, Falmouth

This is a pleasant, wooded preserve with about 4.25 miles of trails, popular with dog walkers. There is a nice section of the trail — from the red and orange trails, particularly — that follows the pretty Mill Creek tidal estuary and salt marsh.

I revisited this preserve in 2018, and the trails are well marked. The best walks to do here are the red and orange loops, which include the views of the creek and are easy to walk and easy to follow. The red loop is perhaps a bit dryer than the orange loop. Some of the trails linking the two loops — which are marked with blue blazes — are a little overgrown. There are also paths that wander off the preserve into nearby woods that locals use.
