Frog Pond Trail, Raymond

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: ~1.2 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy to moderate
  • Sights: Frog Pond, outdoor classroom

I have visited this trail a couple of times before and always gotten lost in the area below the school. (It’s always been easy, however, to find the “frog pond,” which is about 0.1 mile from the trailhead and really charming, with benches (one under a pergola) and a little bridge.) The school has set up an outdoor teaching area near the pond as well, with several places classes can gather, one under a shelter.

Recently, I returned on snowshoes and was able to follow the tagged trails fairly accurately, I think. I hope! I may have missed some twists and turns here and there. It was really fun on snowshoes since the trails are on a fairly steep slope — if you like that kind of thing!

The public is invited to visit the trails after school hours, which are from 9 am to 3 pm on weekdays.

Directions: The trailhead is off the driveway to Raymond Elementary School, at 434 Webbs Mills Road in Raymond. You’ll see a big sign for Frog Pond Trail on your left shortly after turning into the drive. You can park on the side of the driveway when school is not in session.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
