If you’re staying at Little Lyford Lodge, you not only are treated to three delicious meals a day, you also don’t have the excuse to check out the sunrise over Little Lyford Pond! It’s such a beautiful sight, and a short walk from the cabins.
The trails around the lodge — Nation’s Nature Trail, Pleasant River Trail, and Pond Loop Trail — are relatively easy, but at times a bit overgrown. They have the regular roots and rocks everywhere in Maine, as well as a few ups and downs. Skiers are warned ahead of time of steep grades. There are periodic side paths to check out the views of the surrounding hills looming behind the ponds and creating amazing reflections.
Additionally, you can borrow paddles and life jackets from the lodge to canoe the ponds.
Directions: From Greenville, take KI Road past the gatehouse to where it hits a T-junction. You’ll see a sign for Little Lyford Lodge here; go left. Continue on the road as it turns left and becomes Upper Valley Road, and either park at the visitor parking area for Little Lyford Lodge or at the parking area on Upper Valley Road about a mile past the lodge driveway on the right. Best to have a high-clearance vehicle.
