QUICK TRAIL FACTS
- Preserve Size: 32 acres
- Trail Mileage: ~0.5 miles
- Pets: yes
- Difficulty: easy
- Sights: Medomak River
This park is scenic and magical, with about a half mile of blue-blazed trails that wend through the woods and bring you to flat ledges on the Medomak River before it runs into Muscongus Bay. Some of these ledges look like good swimming spots! (Though at least one requires maneuvering down a steep bank.) On some days the tidal water here glows a deep blue-green. The town maintains the 32-acre park, which is also a boat launch.
You’ll find the start of the longest trail, about 0.2 miles, at the far end of the big parking lot, just past a picnic table. It brings you through woods and up a short steep section, outfitted with a helpful rope, before coming out on the access road. Look for the other trails by peering for the blue blazes from the road. The lovely 0.1-mile trail that takes you to the end of the point and back also starts behind a picnic table, to the left of the boat launch.
Here’s a bit of info about the park, and about some other parks in Waldoboro.
Directions: The Marine Park is 6.5 miles south of Route 1 near the lower end of Dutch Neck Road.
