Mayor Baxter Woods, Portland

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 30 acres
  • Trail Mileage: Perimeter Loop is ~0.8 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: historic park

This small patch of woods—just about 30 acres—has a maze of wide, easy, and flat paths that let you meander through a red pine stand and conifer, deciduous, and mixed forests. There is a small pond and meadow, as well.

The loop around the park is about 0.8 mile, and the main path is smooth enough for wheelchairs.

For a longer walk, head over to the amazing Evergreen Cemetery and stroll along the paved lanes or woodland paths.

Directions:
You can park along Stevens Avenue, across Evergreen Cemetery, or you can park in the small three-car parking area at the end of the dead-end Percival Street. I think you can also park along Hartley Lane.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
