Owl’s Head Trail, Jackman

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: N/A
  • Trail Mileage: .3 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: short but steep
  • Sights: views

You will want to pull off from Route 201 to check out this rest area and its fabulous view southwest over the islands speckled across Attean Pond nestled among mountains. You may also want to go for a quick, steep hike up the hill to a little lookout over the same view—minus the cars and tourists.

The .3-mile trail begins to the left of the picnic tables, if you’re facing away from the road. A sign marks the start of the blazed path, which is easy to follow. In a few panting minutes, you’ll reach a sign for Lookout 1 and a small trail headed to the right to the view. As far as we could tell there is no Lookout 2. The path beyond the lookout (there was a faint one) dwindled away to nothing quite quickly (unless we missed something). So head back the way you came.

Directions: The rest area is about 4.25 miles south on Route 201 from the intersection in Jackman with Route 15/6.
