The trails in this area are well connected, with just a few road crossings. North Falmouth Community Forest is in light blue.
The North Falmouth Community Forest trail network — which is well blazed, with occasional maps at intersections — has just under 6 miles of trails, so you can do a sizable walk or bike ride before heading over to Blackstrap Hill Preserve, if you want to keep going.
On the other side, to the west, the trail network links up with the vast Lowell Preserve/East Windham Conservation Area. From the trailhead on Blackstrap Road to Lowell Preserve, it’s roughly 2.3 miles.
If you start at Blackstrap Road, the trail starts off on a hill (you’ll pass the most epic of bike jumps, too, which sometimes causes mountain bikers to fly several feet into the air, shrieking in pure joy) and in about 0.3 miles, the trail reaches an overlook with a decent view of the area — for this elevation!
Directions: This preserve shares a good-sized parking lot with Blackstrap Hill Preserve on Blackstrap Road. The lot is about half a mile north of the intersection of Babbidge Road and Blackstrap Road, and just a ways up from Hemlock Cove Road. Additionally, you’ll find a small parking area (big enough for two to three cars) at the end of a little lane off Babbidge Road. This lane is unmarked, save for a small green post with the number 63; it looks like a private driveway. But if you drive 1,000 feet down this narrow lane, you can park at at a locked gate. This entrance might appeal more to walkers, since many mountain bikers use the bigger lot and the trails close to it.
