Farmington

  • Bonney Woods — A 9-acre parcel with a lovely hemlock stand.
  • Titcomb Mountain — A small downhill and Nordic ski center in the winter, with more than seven miles of cross-country ski trails. The mountain is short, with nice views, so I imagine it’s a fun hike in the summer, too.
  • Tree of Life Trail — A one-mile trail in the forest around Franklin Memorial Hospital; it’s easy and gentle, maybe okay for some wheelchairs.
  • Powder House Hill Trails Network — Lots of well-signed trails packed into a rather extensive public forest. Popular and close to downtown.
  • Prescott Fields Trail — You can hike up to five miles here on the easy and flat trail system close to downtown Farmington. There is a 0.6-mile wheelchair accessible trail, as well as many side trails to the pebbly shore of Sandy River.
  • Stone Soup Gardens — Two easy loops bring you past gardens, around a field, and through light-filled woods.
  • Nina’s Woods — A small network of wide, easy trails behind Cascade Brook School.
  • Clifford Woods — Meander through mature woods and check out interesting geological features and small streams.
  • Wilson Stream Trail — A short, charming trail that follows the stream on one of its sharp bends.
