Located behind Cascade Brook Elementary School, this small trail network provides easy walking through mature forest, perfect for kids! The trails are wide and many are gravel surfaced, but some steeper slopes would be challenging for strollers or wheelchair users.

The trails have excellent signage and there are distance markers along the main loop. For some reason, the markers are in meters. The trails are occasionally packed by snowmobile in the winter.

A fitting memorial: The woods are named for Nina Bitterauf (1977-1999), who graduated from Mt. Blue Middle and High School, and was an honors student at University of Vermont. A superb athlete and student, she is remembered as a “brave and effervescent spirit” who “always challenged her physical limits, and who loved to exercise surrounded by the beauty and inspiration of the natural world.”

Directions: The trails can be accessed from either side of Cascade Brook Elementary School. The school is located at the end of Learning Lane, off of Middle Street in Farmington. If school is in session, it is best to use the north trailhead.
