Davidson Nature Preserve, Vassalboro

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 97 acres
  • Trail Mileage: .7 miles in network
  • Pets: no
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: fields, blueberry barrens, fen, and forest

The fields at this preserve are beautiful, and were filled with birdsong on the day we visited. The property includes blueberry fields, forests, and a fen (where the trail dead ends). Take note that dogs are not allowed. Also, the Kennebec Land Trust asks that walkers approach the fen or wetland quietly to not disturb any mating and nesting great blue herons.

Directions: From Augusta or Waterville take Route 201 to Vassalboro. Turn onto Bog Road and go approximately 2.2 miles to Taber Hill Road. Turn north (left) on Taber Hill Road for approximately 1 mile. The trailhead will be on the left side of Taber Hill Road, just before Hussey Hill Road.
