Falmouth Town Forest, Falmouth

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 21 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 1.24 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: woods

The trails in Cumberland, Falmouth, and Windham are very well connected, either by footpath or snowmobile trail. In my map above, Falmouth Town Forest is in dark blue; Knight’s Pond Preserve in light blue; Rines Forest in green; Farwell Forest in lavender; Hadlock Community Forest in maroon; Falmouth Community Park in yellow; and Blackstrap Preserve in orange. Not shown on this map are the connected trails of North Falmouth Community Forest, Greely Woods, and Lowell Preserve.

Here is my attempt at a map that roughly shows the multi-town interconnected trail system.

This little wooded trail in the town forest, with a boardwalk, connects to a vast network of trails that sprawl throughout Falmouth, Cumberland, and Windham. The land trust has done a remarkable job of making it possible to walk or ride a mountain bike for several uninterrupted miles.

Directions: From Route 9, take a left on Winn Road. Go 1.7 miles and the trailhead will be on your left. The trailhead to Hadlock Forest is on the right.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
