  • Trail Mileage: 0.25 miles one way
  • Pets: yes

Fern Hollow is aptly named! The short there-and-back trail, just about a quarter mile one way, threads through shady conifers before running along the edge of a shallow fern-laden valley. Continue along the path, descending slightly to a little unnamed brook set within more ferns. The trail ends at an arched culvert of blocky granite that runs underneath the Saint Lawrence & Atlantic railway.

The Royal River Conservation Trust is managing the land largely for wildlife.

Directions: Access to the preserve is at the end of Cluff Road, which is a dead end with a home at the far tip. Before you reach this home, you’ll see what looks like a small area for parking on the right side of the road close to the preserve sign, also on the right. The land trust asks visitors to park on the paved shoulders of Cluff Road, before the sign.
