Garcelon Bog Conservation Area, Lewiston

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 100 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 0.25 miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: boardwalk, bog

This is a short but enchanting walk, a place to look for birds and check out an interesting ecological habitat. It’s amazing to find it in the middle of a metropolitan area. The best part is the 0.25-mile boardwalk, which allows you to see a bit of the 100 acres of wetland in the heart of the city before ending in a shady, mature forest. There’s also a short and less interesting trail south of the boardwalk that links Warren, Jeanette, and Reservoir Avenues, and goes to a small manmade pool.

Directions: The boardwalk is located at the end of Russell St. Extension.  Parking is on the edge of the cul-de-sac.

  1. I suggest that you make the following change the QUICK TRAIL FACTS [above]. For clarity, i suggest that you change “Trail Mileage: .25 miles one way” to “Trail Mileage: 0.25 miles one way”
The change to “0.25” is easier to read. It avoids misreading it as a “25 mile” trail.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
