Hatchet Mountain Preserve, Hope

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 27 acres
  • Trail Mileage: .6-miles one way
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: moderate
  • Sights: views, summit is ~1,080 ft.

This is a quick .6-mile trail to a pretty lookout. You can go farther, to the summit, but the views are not as grand. There are radio towers at the top, and someone has flagged a rough path (with ribbon) over the other side of the mountain. If you do this, you have to walk back to the parking lot along the road. This 27-acre preserve is protected by the Coastal Mountains Land Trust.

Directions: From Camden, follow Washington Street/Route 105 out of Camden to Hope Center. Take a left onto Hatchet Mountain Road and drive just over 1/2 mile. The small 2-3 car parking lot for the Preserve is located on the right-hand side of the road.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
