Linekin and Burley Preserves, Boothbay

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 138 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~3 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: moderate
  • Sights: Damariscotta River, old growth evergreen woods, streams, rock ledges

This is a fantastic trail. It takes you to little ponds, vernal pools, small streams and beautiful sea views. The trail parallels the ocean (well, it’s the mouth of Damariscotta River, but it feels and looks like the ocean) for a good stretch, about 650 feet (but somehow it felt like longer). The trails total almost 3 miles.

Much of the trail system is fairly easy, but the going gets steeper as you approach the river.

Directions: Proceed 3.8 miles on Route 96, starting from the traffic light at the intersection with Route 27. (You will pass through the town of East Boothbay). Soon after Alley Rd. on the right look for the Linekin Preserve parking lot on the left.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
