Lobster Cove Meadow and Appalachee Preserves, Boothbay

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 72 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 2.5 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Meadow Cove Creek, Appalachee Pond

This walk starts off at a large field bordering a marshy area filled with birds. I even saw a bald eagle. You continue walking along the periphery of this wetland until you get to the end, when you curve around it and start walking along an old road. This links to the one-mile Appalachee loop, which swings you by a pretty little pond (with a few homes on it). Don’t forget your binoculars. This is roughly a 3.5 mile walk all together.

Directions: From the junction of Routes 27 and 96 in Boothbay Harbor, at the traffic light, take 96 and proceed about 0.3 mile to Eastern Avenue. Turn right on Eastern Avenue and in less than 0.1 mile you will see parking and a BRLT kiosk on your left. From the parking area follow the trail signs to the BRLT property.
