Oxbow Trail, Waterville

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: ~19 acres
  • Trail Mileage: .75 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Messalonskee Stream

This little preserve has a lot of charm even if it’s a bit rough. The trail includes a few lookouts onto the Messalonskee Stream (except at the very tip of the preserve, where I tried to bushwhack through the reeds before giving up).

There was a homeless couple camping in the preserve when I visited. They invited me into their camping area next to the stream to check out a sweet family of baby ducks.

Directions: I believe you can park at the Lutheran Church on 36 Cool Street. The trail is just north of the parking lot, on the right.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
