Sewall Woods Preserve, Bath

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Trail Mileage: 0.8 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: woods, stone walls, Whiskeag Creek

Thorne Head and Whiskeag trails in blue; Sewall Woods trails in yellow.

The trails at Kennebec Estuary Land Trust’s Sewall Woods connect to the long Whiskeag Trail, which joins up with the lovely Thorne Head Preserve. Meanwhile, you could just wander the 1.3 or so miles of narrow trails here, which meander through the woods and extend beyond the preserve boundaries onto private property, and onto Calvary Cemetery.

There are a couple of hills, and the paths are narrow at times, with rocks and roots, but otherwise the going is fairly easy.

Directions: A small parking lot — big enough for about four cars — is off Whiskeag Road. From the intersection with High Street, the drive is about 644 feet on the right. Turn right through the stone posts onto the driveway, and the parking area will be on your left. The road beyond the preserve is private.
