Stover and Head of Tide Preserves, Belfast

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 145 acres (both preserves)
  • Trail Mileage: 2.7 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: permaculture garden, Passagassawakeag River, fields, old-field pines, bog

These two Coastal Mountains Land Trust preserves are separated by a road and 100 feet, so I am combining them here. I think Head of Tide is probably more popular, but Stover is also quite pretty. Both have trails that pass close to the Passagassawakeag River. Stover is 53 acres and its trail is about 1 mile. Head of Tide is larger, 92 acres, and there are 1.7 miles of trails.

Directions: The preserves are on either side of Doak Road, near its north end.
