Twin Bridges Preserve, Otisfield

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 1,070 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 5 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy to moderate
  • Sights: Crooked River

Twin Bridges Preserve is one of several protected areas in the Crooked River Forest and along the Crooked River, one of Sebago Lake’s tributaries.

Twin Bridges has a parking area for about six cars, kiosk, and five miles of trails. Crooked River—a tributary to Sebago Lake—is lovely, and makes for pretty spots along your walk, especially if you walk the Hankins and Peirce trails, which are narrower footpaths.

Most of the walking is easy and flat, with the trails alternating between wide paths and single track. There are signs at every intersection, but it’s helpful to bring a trail map since there are many trails packed into this spot!

The only downside to the walking experience here is the nearby shooting range.
Directions: The trailhead is off Route 17, just about 100 yards of so from the rest stop.
