QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Trail Mileage: 3 miles in network

The trail on this 56-acre Midcoast Conservancy preserve offers a pleasant 1-mile loop along the Sheepscot River, as well as a wonderful 1.7-mile walk up and back along the river’s West Branch. As you make your way up the West Branch, the Sheepscot transitions from dramatic rapids to calm, glassy quiet. The West Branch river trail ends in a small loop that can be muddy in springtime.

Directions: From Wiscasset, take Route 218 North through Alna and head towards Whitefield. Once in Whitefield, turn left on Route 126. Follow 126 for about a mile and turn right on Vigue Road (at hair salon). Take Vigue Road for about 2 miles until you reach Howe Road. Turn right at Howe Road.
