Bonney Point Trail

The trail on this 280-acre Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust preserve includes a 0.6-mile loop and a 0.4-mile there-and-back leg to a pretty point on the lake with a picnic table and a pebbly shore, good for swimming. While the main attraction from Bonney Point is its grand vista of Rangeley Lake and the mountains beyond, to the immediate north is a quiet, protected cove. Just south of the preserve are nearby homes with docks.

The two ends of the upper loop leave from different points in the parking lot, so make sure you’re taking the route you’d like to go! Both trails descend a hill, but it’s slightly easier to do this loop in a clockwise direction. Once you reach the 0.4-mile spur, you’ll continue to lose elevation, but at a slightly more gradual clip.

Directions: From Rangeley, take Rt 4 north 5 miles from town, take a left on Bonney Point Road, and travel approximately 0.75 mile. The parking lot is on the left.
