Broadturn Farm, Scarborough

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 434 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 2.6 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Farm, Silver Brook

Broadturn Farm Preserve offers trails through forest and along the pretty Silver Brook. The farm, which is on land protected by the Scarborough Land Trust, also looks like a good place to visit!

When I revisited the preserve in early 2024, the land trust had built a new parking area off Hanson Road, and had completed a nice trail — and beautiful little bridge — linking it to the loop.

And since then, it has expanded the trail system. I will be back to walk it! As of the fall of 2024, there are four trails: Sandi’s Silver Brook Trail (0.6 mile), Maple Sugar Trail (0.9 mile), Stonewall Loop (0.7 mile), and Trail to Falls (0.1 mile).

Directions: From Route One, take Pine Point Road (Route 9) west, away from the ocean. Follow it for 4.5 miles or so to Hanson Road on the left. Turn left and then left again at the public entrance to the farm. Drive down to roundabout and park on the circle. The trailhead is a bit beyond the circle.

  1. We took the Silver Brook trail a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it! The falls were impressive and it was nice to walk along the brook.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
