Ferry Landing Preserve, Brooksville

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 23 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~.7 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: fields, woods, Bagaduce River

This is a 23-acre preserve that offers a pleasant walk of just about 1 mile. If you start at the parking area on Jones Point Road and take your first right to do the loop counter clockwise, you’ll walk through a pretty forest. But this section of trail does include a short, steep incline (which you can avoid if you stay left from the Jones Point Road trailhead, which takes you to the shore along an easier and wider path). You can also park right at the old ferry landing in the summer.

The area down by the river is open, grassy, and scenic. You can launch a canoe or kayak from here, but the current can be unpredictable.

The preserve is protected by the Blue Hill Heritage Trust.

Directions: Cross the Bagaduce Reversing Falls Bridge on Route 175/176. At the stop sign, take a right, following Route 176 north. Follow this for approximately 3 miles, until you come to the intersection that is the center of West Brooksville. Take a sharp right onto Ferry Road. After 1 mile the road splits. Take the right fork, the Jones Point Road. The Ferry Landing Natural Area parking area is on the left with a Blue Hill Heritage Trust sign. Parking area is limited to 2 vehicles.
