Hinkle Preserve, Islesboro

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: 0.2 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Parker Cove, Hutchins Island, hay-scented fern

While this is a small preserve, be ready to be met with quite a lot of beauty! In the summer, you’ll walk through a fern glade under large, old hardwood trees before you reach the short trail down to the long beach. If you walk south down the beach, you can extend your walk by connecting to the trails around Hutchins Island and the nearby marsh.

Directions: From Main Road, going north, turn right onto Point Comfort Road. When we visited, the road did not have a street sign, just a house number and so looked more like a driveway. Follow this road about a quarter mile to the entrance to Hinkle Preserve. It will be on your right, marked with a land trust sign.
