Penny Lake Preserve, Boothbay

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 54 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 1.5 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: field, woods, freshwater wetland

Behind the bustle of the grocery stores and other shops on Route 27 is this 54-acre Boothbay Region Land Trust preserve, which has a handicap-accessible trail that meanders through a meadow. The preserve protects a freshwater wetland and also contains woods and an open field (a nice spot for picnics). Absolutely lovely place for a not-too-long and not-too-difficult outing.

Directions: From the traffic light at the junction of Route 27 and Route 96 go north just 0.1 of a mile. Turn left between the Boothbay Harbor Chamber of Commerce and the Flagship Inn and proceed down past the Carousel Theater to the BRLT parking area.
