This is a lovely place to watch the sunset! And there are several paths at this state park that will bring you to viewpoints to watch it.
If you do the perimeter trail along the sea edge (Big Spruce Trail), and continue on the trail that loops around the park via Moose Trail and Meadow Trail, it’s a 1.2-mile walk. You’ll pass through a forest and a field. The trails are generally easy, flat, and wide, with some roots and eroded sections. The driveway down to the beach is paved.
At the sea edge, you can walk down a staircase to reach the stony beach. The park also has bathrooms, a playground, and wide stretches of mown lawn dotted with picnic tables and a pavilion. You have to pay a fee here in the summer, not so in the winter.
Directions: The park is right off of Route 1, between the downtowns of Belfast and Searsport.
