Cathedral Pines Pathways

Eustis, Franklin County

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 300 acres
  • Trail Mileage: ~2.7 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: wetlands, mature red pine forest

When the mountains are too cold or icy to hike or ski, this is a good alternative for a gentle walk. The maturing pine forest is beautiful, and there is a view from a wetland boardwalk. The understory is relatively clear, so walking through the trees is easy and you have long sight lines through the woods. This, I think, has maybe encouraged people to develop their own paths and occasionally we found it difficult to discern the true way!

The main trails are marked with big color blocks and are obvious, whereas the quasi-side paths are a little scruffier. You can do two or so miles of nice walking here.

The land is owned and operated by the Stratton-Eustis Development Corporation for the benefit of residents and visitors.

Directions: From the Intersection of ME Routes 27 and 16 in Stratton Village (Town of Eustis), drive about 3.5 miles north on ME Route 27. The parking and trailhead for Cathedral Pines Pathways is on the left at the intersection of ME Route 27 and Eustis Ridge Road.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
