Blueberry Plains, Old Orchard Beach

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: ~1-mile loop possible
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: blueberry barrens, stream

This is a really nice spot for a short walk, with sandy soils, pitch pines (I think), and blueberries in season. It was hard to make out the information on the faded posters tacked on the kiosk, but it looks like the town owns two parcels here, separated by some privately owned land. However, the un-blazed but easy-to-follow trails crisscross the plains, so perhaps it is okay for walkers to explore. A couple of the paths take you down to a stream.

Directions: The parking lot is about .87 miles from Route 1, on Ross Road.
