Brewer Woods and Whippoorwill Woods trails in red; Wolfe’s Neck Center trails in blue.
Brewer Woods offers a walk of under one mile in peaceful, pretty woods. You can also walk a one-mile path through the Whippoorwill Woods to connect to the larger system of Wolfe’s Neck Center trails, which, if you go far enough, will lead you to some beautiful spots by the ocean.
Behind Brewer Woods’ trailhead kiosk on Flying Point Road, you’ll see a narrow, grassy trail running parallel to a neighbor’s driveway. The path soon passes the twisted remains of an antique wrecked car, which I at first took to be outdoor sculpture!
Once the trail enters the older part of the woods, it widens and becomes less grassy and more a needle-covered, beautiful forest path. You’ll walk alongside a deep ravine for a short stretch until you reach the intersection with the connector path to Wolfe’s Neck Center. If you just do the short loop on this part of the preserve, you’ll pass a few side trails that lead onto private property. One of them brings you down to the creek.
Directions: Trailhead is on Flying Point Road 0.7 miles east of the intersection with Wolfe’s Neck Road. The small parking lot and trailhead sign are on right ride of road when heading east.
