Herbert Preserve, Islesboro

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: ~1.3 miles
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: Ryders Cove, old Mill Dam site

Two short loops bring walkers along the forested edges of the tidal Mill Pond. The west loop is 0.7 miles, and the eastern loop is about 0.6 miles, according to my GPS. The land is protected by the Islesboro Islands Trust.

Directions: The trailhead is on Ryder’s Cove Road (or just Ryder Road on Google maps), just about 600 feet or so from the intersection with Main Road and Durkee’s Store.

    • I know, it’s impossible, unfortunately, to slide my pics off the slideshow tool. They’re also not high resolution. I am always happy to email my photos if that is ever helpful, even the original ones if I can find them.

Let me know if you have any trail updates or corrections!
