This old farm, protected by the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, is a gorgeous place to go for a short walk, with a one-way trail along a quiet, beautiful stretch of the Cathance River.
The 33-acre property is a former farm where people used to go on horse-drawn sleigh and wagon rides. The apple trees in the corner of the field are more than 100 years old.
The Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust in early 2026 opened up a blazed ~0.4-mile footpath from the kiosk to a picturesque point on the river. Directly across the river is Tarbox Preserve.
When we visited, we tromped back along some of the old woods roads to make a couple of loops.
Directions: For our wintertime visit, we parked at the end of Katie Lane, where the plow turns around and there is a largish area where you can park and not block driveways. When there’s no snow, you can pull into the forest a short ways and park closer to the kiosk, where there’s room for five to seven cars.
