I believe Merritt Mountain is part of Sebasco Harbor Resort, so I’m not entirely sure where you should park — and whether the estate is open to hikers leaving their car somewhere on the resort grounds. You might be able to find a good place to pull over on Sebasco Road. If you’re staying nearby, this is a very quick, easy, .4-mile hike to open ledge with a view back over the resort and the harbor. Very pretty!
Directions: Follow Route 209 south down the Phippsburg peninsula. Take a right onto Sebasco Road, and drive along for about 1.2 miles. The trailhead is up a driveway opposite the entrance way, called Kenyon Drive, into Sebasco Harbor Resort. When I visited there was a sign for Merritt Mountain at the start of the trail. While the path is not blazed, it’s very clear.
