Oosoola is a fabulous little park with a fabulous name. I couldn’t find out what oosoola refers to*, but I like to think it might have something to do with where the park is situated, at a graceful bend in Kennebec River, close to where Mill Stream flows into it.
The park has a dock, a playground, a gazebo and a short trail down a little spit between Mill Stream and Kennebec River that offers lovely views of the bridge, river and opposite bank. The short trail is sandy and flat.
Directions: The park is located off Route 2, just outside of the little downtown center. It’s roughly 650 feet from the intersection of Routes 2 and 139, where Route 2 makes a sharp bend west and turns into Main Street.

Hi,
According to a Google Search:
Oosoola is is an Ahnaki word meaning “a spot frequently inundated” or “flooded”.
The word “Oosoola” comes from the Ahnaki language, an Algonquian language spoken by the Wabanaki peoples, including the Penobscot.
Google AI cites a book written in 1962: https://ia902303.us.archive.org/13/items/indianplacenames00hude/indianplacenames00hude.pdf
I hope this helps!
